Abstract

This case study aims to present an experience report, where the researcher acted as a participant-observer. The work sought an approach focusing on society and the environment through a training activity in environmental education for educators of a social project. The topic addressed was environmental sanitation. Educators and collaborators from the Child and Adolescent Center in the city of São Paulo/SP participated in this action. The activity took place in the first half of 2022. Participants attended the talks and after, were able to discuss the topics presented. Socio-environmental perceptions were observed and how each individual's experience and perception could influence every day actions regarding environmental sanitation. These conversation circles contribute to stimulating critical sense, so the participants start to question the actions of the Government concerning environmental care in their neighborhoods, favoring discussion and possible public participation of the community in decision-making and the promotion of Public Policies involving environmental issues. The educators pointed out the importance of working on broad environmental issues that are linked to the daily lives of children and adolescents who use the space, thus increasing their knowledge of socio-environmental issues.
