Abstract

Quali-quantitative, exploratory study carried out through an altmetric survey. It analyzes how the online attention of the scientific production of Communication Science researchers from the southern region of Brazil is characterized, based on mentions of the production on Twitter. It considers the time frame from 2015 to 2020. Based on the list of 437 records with DOI, 67 articles with an altmetric score were identified on Altmetric.com. For analysis, the 10 articles with the highest score according to the mentioned platform were selected. The audience categories were defined through Altmetric.com, namely: public, researchers and science communicators. Through the mentions of the articles on Twitter, it was possible to observe that the profile that most interacts with the publications is the non-academic public. In addition, the shares do not generate relevant scientific debates from a scientific point of view, generating few comments, most often made by the authors and co-authors themselves. It is also noteworthy that this attention does not measure the quality of attention, which can be positive or not, but the number of mentions. In this sense, in-depth studies are needed in order to understand what this attention is like.
