Resumen

ABSTRACT: This paper presents an analysis of the usage of address forms within television programmes of three Rio Grande do Sul stations (namely, TVE, TVCOM and RBS), broadcasted in late July 2006. The data come from several genres of programmes (news, talk shows, travel), including commercials. We have focused mainly on the co-variation between the forms 'tu' and 'você', having noticed that the form 'você' appears to be virtually exclusive in situations where the interlocutor is the viewer (the audience).
