Resumen

ABSTRACT: The research carried out with 3rd. and 4th. Grade students from Elementary School attending a riverside school in Rondônia, showed that although they presented a significant experience in oral report when speaking about their myths and legends, they revealed a poor performance in self-expressing in the school context. The community's culture didn't permeate the school environment. Based on Bakhtin, Vygotsky and Benjamin's theoretical assumptions and making use of methodological procedures of action research, we have developed strategies for shared narrative production, bringing to classroom experiences lived by the children in the community. The oral narratives, established in the interaction process, mediated the written production and allowed the children to register their stories, improving their writing skills.
