Resumen

ABSTRACT: This research intends to identify, gather and contrast definitions, suggestions and ideas related to fables, built by Italo Calvino in his essays, prefaces, introductions and reviews to his own or other writers' books within the period 1946-1956, which configures his auto-reflexive moments about his first images as a writer, drawn by his first fictional experiences and the interpretations of different critics. This analysis is believed to help understanding why several different meanings of "fable" were applied to almost all Calvino's books and replacing them into his conceptions of modern literature, in order to think "fable" beyond a matter of literary types.
