Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article aims at discussing the contributions of the Bakhtinian Circle theories to the foreign language teaching in the beginning years of formal education in Brazil, which is not, to the present moment, officially part of the National Curriculum. Due to the importance of English in a globalized world, its controversial socio-educational impacts and the irregular increase in the implementation of such discipline in the first grades of Ensino Fundamental I at public schools, the relevance of this work lies on the grounds it may offer to the elaboration of transformative theoretical and practical guidelines for the given teaching-learning process.
