Abstract

Children have participated actively in content related to them. The internet offers several opportunities for this to happen in a simple and efficient way. Sites like YouTube have transformed children's culture and allowed children to contribute to digital culture, whether in the consumption or in the production of images and videos. These videos are produced with different themes and purposes. The scientific discourse has even been used by children in these productions to achieve visibility. This research aimed to analyze the children's discourse that uses science as a theme for the construction of an ethos and the objectives of these children when presenting the image of the scientist in their productions. Some lines from two videos presented on YouTube by children and which contained scientific themes in the titles were analyzed. The case study methodology was used to compare the videos. It was observed that the presenters built different ethos with the image of the scientist in their productions, but both achieved great visibility on the internet. Science was used to give credibility to the children' speeches and create an image of intelligence and courage, which helped them to achieve visibility on the internet.
