DA CÂMARA ESCURA AO PHOTOSHOP: INVESTIGANDO VISUALIDADES CONTEMPORÂNEAS
Abstract
The present article aims to examine the trajectory of visuality over the past few centuries, since the emergence of industrial society to the large scale spread of images through contemporary technologies. The article aims to outline the viewer-image or subject-image relationship, exposing the main changes that lead us to what we call contemporary visual culture. The first half of the article introduces a chronology of visuality, while the second half reveals some of the tendencies present in the current optical regime. In order to induce a more critical stance regarding the overabundance of images and the attention economy in which we are immersed, this article takes contributions of authors such as Michel Foucault, Jonathan Crary, Paula Sibilia, Gilles Lipovetsky, Arlindo Machado e Walter Benjamin, among others. A bibliographical review of this collection of authors allows an inspection at our times' media technologies, that reside mainly in the digital world, their images and roamings. Consequently, it is possible to understand the contemporary intersections between capitalism, culture and technology.Downloads
