Polignoto, Páuson, Dionísio e Zêuxis – Uma leitura da pintura clássica grega

This paper brings to light considerations about Greek classical painting, taking into account homologies that were established by Aristotle in his Poetics. This discussion is mandatory since the philosopher compares painting and poetry, like rhetorical recourses of exemplum or paradeigma, to explain the latter art by the former. However, the Greek classical pictorial doctrine which we have at our disposal today is insufficient to clarify the exact analytical categories used by him. Thus, we intend to discuss how Aristotle observed Polygnotus', Pauson's, Dionysus' and Zeuxis' paintings in order to evaluate and infer doctrinal concepts out of these kinds of paintings and painters not in an anachronistic, but in a contemporary way, which is exactly the opposite of what we can see in many handbooks on Classical Art History or scholars' papers.Referências
