Nestor e a performance da tradição épica no canto 3 da Odisseia

Nestor não conta a Guerra de Troia, o seu retorno e o de outros heróis a Telêmaco como um aedo ideal, mas aproximando passado, presente e futuro. É sua experiência que dá o tom da narrativa. O sucesso do cavalo de Troia é uma conquista de Odisseu, mas, na construção ambígua de Nestor, os planos de Odisseu não eram independentes dos do próprio Nestor: na única vez em que isso ocorreu, Odisseu perdeu seu retorno. Já o retorno do ancião baseia-se na sapiência e piedade que continua a demonstrar em Pilos. Ao contrário das histórias de Nestor na Ilíada, na Odisseia elas não funcionam como um ainos, ou seja, não indicam uma opção recomendável de ação ao(s) interlocutor(es) por meio de um exemplo, mas, como na Ilíada, guardam diversas relações com os eventos principais narrados na Odisseia.References
