O estatuto científico da linguística

Abstract

This work aims at reflecting on the scientifical status of linguistics. In order to do that, the group has elaborated four questions of epistemological content and sent them to different professors from the Linguistics Department of the Language Studies Institut (IEL)/Unicamp. The professors requested to answer the questions are Aquiles Tescari Neto, ressearcher of generative syntax, Lívia Oushiro, sociolinguist, and Thiago Motta, psycholinguist. Comparing their answers and using the bibliography read on the discipline Language and Investigation in Human Sciences, the group proceeds at making a discussion on the object of linguistics, its validity as a science, its specificity among human sciences and in comparison with the hard sciences, the specific areas of ressearch each interviewer is dedicated to, and possible conflicts and disputes among other fields inside linguistics.
