CINZAS, VERSOS E HAVANAS: UM ESTUDO SOBRE O CHARUTO NO ROMANTISMO BRASILEIRO

Resumo

RESUMO: O artigo tece uma breve análise da simbologia do charuto no romantismo brasileiro, mapeando e compreendendo os significados que o mesmo adquire no cerne da produção poética no período. Para tanto, parte do princípio de que o charuto possui uma tradição, história, personalidade e glamour indissociáveis da produção literária nacional, vindo a tornar-se no século XIX emblema de uma classe boêmia, intelectual e transgressora. ABSTRACT: The article aims to show a brief analysis of the symbolism of the cigar in Brazilian romanticism, mapping and understanding the meanings that it acquires in the poetic production of this period. For both, the article assumes that the cigar has a tradition, history, personality and glamor inseparable from national literary production, gradually become in the nineteenth century emblem of a class bohemian, intellectual and transgressors.
