TOPICALIZAÇÃO V2 NA GRAMÁTICA DO PORTUGUÊS CLÁSSICO: MUDANÇAS NA DIACRONIA

Resumo

ABSTRACT: This paper presents the result of an investigation about the use of objects in the topic position in Classical Portuguese. The result shows a V2 grammar licensing different forms of this phenomenon. In these V2-structures, the constituent in topic position is presented in Clitic Left Dislocation and Topicalization structures. In both cases, it is an adjunct or a fronted element. There are, however, diachronic changes in the frequency of the use of these sentences and in their structural configurations. These structural changes are triggered by a grammatical change developed in Classical Portuguese.
