Às voltas com Babel: Derrida e a tradução (catacréstica)

Resumo

Com enfoque no ensaio “Des tours de Babel??? publicado em Psyché e suas traduções para o inglês, o espanhol, o italiano e o português brasileiro, o objetivo foi caracterizar um tipo de tradução observada nos textos de Derrida, tomando de empréstimo uma figura retórica, a catacrese. O interesse pelo tema se justifica por seu caráter praticamente inédito no âmbito das reflexões realizadas no Brasil, não fosse o empenho do grupo de pesquisa Traduzir Derrida: políticas e desconstruções, que procura preencher essa lacuna. Derrida lança mão de mecanismos retóricos, tais como os tropos, em sua reflexão sobre a tradução; em uma linguagem filosófica, faz uma leitura de “A tarefa do tradutor???, de Benjamin, procurando suplementá-lo de várias formas. A hipótese diretiva de nossa pesquisa é a de que a boa tradução deve abusar, como num efeito de torção do sentido, num interminável double bind produzindo assim a “tradução catacréstica??? que se caracteriza pelo comentário, a aposição de notas e a propensão ao uso de palavras estrangeiras (em situação parentética), como se quer demonstrar neste trabalho. Abstract Focusing at the essay “Des tours de Babel??? edited in Psyché and its versions to English, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese, respectively. The aim has been to define a type of translation noticed in the Derrida’s texts, borrowing a rhetorical figure, the cathacrese. The interest for the theme of translation within Derrida justifies itself by its fully new aspect in the domain of researches produced in Brazil, exception made to research community Traduzir Derrida: políticas e desconstruções, which searches for fulfilling this breach. Derrida uses rhetorical devices, such as tropes, within his study about translation; under a philosophical language, he reads the Benjamin’s essay “The task of translator???, looking for supplying him in many ways. The hypothesis of this research contends that the good translation must abuse, like in a torsion effect of the meaning, in an endless double bind, producing the “cathacrestical translation??? which is defined by comments, notes aposition, and propensity in using foreign words (in parenthetical situation), as this work intends to show off.
