Abstract In this research, we seek to understand the division made by O. Ducrot in his theory on the language’s argument, between poetry and argument. Starting from the hypothesis that, for him, the division resides in the way the speech presents itself when it comes to the relationship of language and enunciation, we present the way as he thinks the poetry about two ducrotian texts. Then, we analyze the word ¨poetry¨ in two ducrotian texts, under the perspective of the Happening Semantics and, last, we debate the way poetry connects with the language’s notions, enunciation, phrase and enunciation, text and speech. After going through that whole path, we present the results we got.
