A AÇORIANIDADE DE VITORINO NEMÉSIO E O RETORNO A PHYSIS

Resumo

A partir do romance Varanda de Pilatos (1926), objetivamos analisar a açorianidade de Vitorino Nemésio, marcada, por um lado, pelas deficitárias condições sociais insulares que compelem o açoriano a emigrar; por outro, pela angústia da partida, imprescindível ao ser masculino, mas inibitória ao feminino. Isso se justificaria pela analogia do feminino insular à deusa grega Héstia, conduzindo-nos à teogonia e à cosmogonia. É, sobretudo, pela natureza que esta via de interpretação mítica se constrói, pois ela constitui elemento simbólico medular da açorianidade nemesiana, redimensionando-a ao pensarmos essa relação a partir do conceito grego de physis. The main of this article is to analyze the novel Varanda de Pilatos (1926) by Vitorino Nemésio, making clear elements which characterize it as Azorean. It is expressed, at a first plan, by the social conditions; in a second plan, by the interpersonal relationships restricted in the anxiety of the leaving necessity. Such needs reveals itself, however, a need to the male universe and inhibitory to the feminine one. That is justified by the analogy to the “insular feminine” and to the Vesta/Hestia genealogy, what compell us to cosmogony and to teogony. It´s especially throught the nature that a mythical interpretation is organized and makes possible a relation with physis, greek idea. Keywords: Azorean, cosmogony, teogony, nature.
