ABSTRACT : In this communication, I intend to situate the work of Humberto de Campos (1886, MA - 1934, RJ), which will serve as a parameter to the survey of critical problems - such as the authorship and the reception of the texts in function of the places of its circulation - on their turn suscitated by the books written by the spiritualistic medium Chico Xavier (1910, MG - 2002, MG) though attributed to the maranhense writer
